Description

Horsetail (Equisetum arvense) is a perennial plant belonging to the Equisetaceae family. It has green, jointed, hollow stems, with regular rings of small, slender branches that give it the appearance of a mini Christmas tree. It can grow up to 60 cm tall and thrives on an extensive network of underground rhizomes, making it difficult to eradicate once established. Horsetail prefers moist, silica-rich, often clayey soils. It is commonly found in Europe, Asia, North America and other temperate regions. Used since ancient times, horsetail is renowned for its diuretic, remineralizing and hemostatic properties.
